About Our Beeswax

We use only well filtered beeswax in all of our EmergencyBud candles. This helps keep the natural honey smell very light. We don't add additional scents to our EmergencyBud candles. In an emergency situation you will be more interested in the heat than the scent (and it won't leave your car smelling like lilac-chocolate-rose petals, either).

Here is some more information about the Beeswax we use and beeswax in general:

Beeswax has a high melting point compared to other waxes
It is less likely to melt while sitting in your warm car over the summer months. Beeswax starts to melt around 145° F. Variations in the makeup/mixtures of all waxes account for differences.

Beeswax burns longer and hotter than paraffin
It's too close to call with Soy wax, but because of the lower melting point of soy wax (about 120° F or lower), it doesn't do as well as beeswax in extremely warm summer temperatures.

Beeswax produces very little soot, if any
In our own tests we found paraffin produced the most visible soot (black plumes of smoke coming from the flame). EmergencyBud candles are unique in that you can regulate how much wick is exposed/burning. The more wick you have exposed, the more likely you will see black plumes.

There are slight variations in the color of our beeswax
As shown in the above picture, the bees will produce different shades of wax, even from the same hive. This is primarily due to the different plants the bees were working in when they made the wax.

We only use 100% pure, natural beeswax
We only use beeswax made (literally, by the bees) in the USA. Nothing has been imported or added: no scents, no bleach, no die, no additives of any kind. In fact, the only thing we add is the wick.
